Penn State Loses Offensive Line Commit to Syracuse
Penn State’s rollercoaster recruiting summer continued on Wednesday when 3-star offensive tackle Roseby Lubintus decommitted from the Nittany Lions and committed to Syracuse for the 2026 class. Lubintus made the announcement via social media, sharing a graphic with the caption “I’m home” alongside a photo of himself in a Syracuse uniform and a gymnast tumbling under the word “FLIPPED.”
Lubintus, a senior at Timber Creek Regional High School, is ranked 14th in New Jersey and 81st nationally among tackles, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6’5″, 350-pound lineman had originally committed to Penn State in April after receiving offers from schools like Michigan State, Boston College, West Virginia, and Florida, among others.
Penn State head coach James Franklin was the first to offer Lubintus a scholarship, which helped get him on the program’s radar back in March 2024. Syracuse extended an offer in May, and Lubintus visited the campus in April. Following his commitment, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter).
Syracuse has been on a recruiting hot streak, recently securing a commitment from 5-star wide receiver Calvin Russell in July. Russell, the fifth-ranked receiver in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite, chose Syracuse over offers from Michigan, Oregon, and Florida State. He’s also the fourth-ranked high school player in Florida.
On the flip side, Penn State added former Syracuse receiver Trebor Pena to its roster through the transfer portal this offseason. Pena, who led the ACC with 84 receptions last season, joined the Nittany Lions after Syracuse coach Fran Brown said publicly that he wouldn’t meet the receiver’s financial demands. “We paid him enough,” Brown told ESPN Syracuse, as reported by Syracuse.com.
Franklin responded to the situation in June, stating, “A lot of the stuff that was put out publicly [regarding Pena], none of it was true about how his transfer took place and why it took place. A lot of the financial descriptions of how that played out, none of them was true as they relate to Penn State based on our experience. They were non-factors. It just worked out really well.”
