WASHINGTON – Georgetown catcher Owen Carapellotti (C’25) has signed a free agent deal with the Oakland Athletics, the program announced Wednesday morning. The Canton, Michigan native becomes the third Hoya in the last three seasons to join an MLB organization.
Carapellotti leaves behind an impressive legacy after a standout four-year career in the Blue & Gray. He earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors in 2025, following back-to-back Second Team selections in 2023 and 2024, and was recognized as BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2022.
The veteran catcher etched his name into the program’s record book, setting career marks for games played (211), games started (208), home runs (52), at-bats (790), and hit-by-pitches (39).
In his final season, Carapellotti hit .298/.406/.565 with 11 doubles, a triple, 14 homers, and 48 RBIs, while drawing 29 walks. Over his career, he posted a .289 batting average, .403 on-base percentage, and .565 slugging percentage, tallying 228 hits, 48 doubles, seven triples, 52 home runs, and 183 RBIs. He was twice named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List and earned All-Region Second Team recognition in both 2023 and 2024.
