Notre Dame Emerging as Front-Runner for Top QB Recruit
Notre Dame has approached its search for a quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class with a different strategy, and it seems like the team might have hit a home run. While it’s still early, the timing—boosted by last season’s National Championship Game run—and a more selective approach from the coaching staff could be paying off.
So far, the Irish have offered scholarships to just two quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle: Peyton Houston from Louisiana and Teddy Jarrard from Georgia.
While Houston is reportedly a heavy favorite for USC, early signs are pointing to good news for Notre Dame with Jarrard. Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and Mike Singer both logged predictions for Jarrard to commit to Notre Dame on Thursday evening, suggesting the Irish are in a strong position.
Teddy Jarrard as a Prospect
Jarrard, a rising junior at North Cobb High School in Georgia, is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class. Standing at 6-3 and 190 pounds, Jarrard already holds over 30 scholarship offers, including from elite programs like Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, and Ohio State.
As a sophomore, he threw for an impressive 2,647 yards, 31 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He currently ranks as the second-best quarterback nationally in Rivals’ 2027 ratings.

Jarrard’s stock has been rising, and another standout junior season would only boost his profile. In the cutthroat world of college football recruiting, securing a commitment from a talent like Jarrard is a no-brainer, especially at a critical position like quarterback.
Though the commitment from Carr felt significant at the time, landing Jarrard—right from under the nose of Kirby Smart and Georgia—would be an even bigger statement.
