Veteran Pitcher Joins Cardinals After Exiting Reds Contract

Aaron Wilkerson, a seasoned pitcher, inked a minor league deal with the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday after choosing to opt out of his contract with the Cincinnati Reds.

Wilkerson posted a 4.17 ERA in 18 starts with Triple-A Louisville, recording 78 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.06 across 95 innings.

The 36-year-old previously appeared in 14 MLB games with the Milwaukee Brewers between 2017 and 2019, finishing with a 6.88 ERA.

While Wilkerson pitched solidly for the Louisville Bats this season, he faced stiff competition from other pitchers vying for a spot in the majors.

He had initially signed a minor league contract with the Reds in January.
