Cincinnati Bengals Sign Demetrius Knight to Historic Rookie Contract
The Cincinnati Bengals have officially signed rookie linebacker Demetrius Knight to a four-year contract.
In a groundbreaking move, the Bengals made NFL history by securing Knight’s rookie deal with nearly 80% of it fully guaranteed at signing. This is the first time a second-round pick, specifically the 49th overall, has had guaranteed money extend into the fourth year of their contract, according to Jordan Schultz.
Knight’s contract is estimated to be worth around $9 million, based on his draft position.
A standout for South Carolina’s defense in 2024, Knight was selected by the Bengals in the second round of this year’s NFL Draft. Reports from earlier in the offseason suggest he is poised to be a key player for the team, with expectations that he could start as a rookie.
Before joining South Carolina, Knight played four seasons at Georgia Tech and one year at Charlotte. He quickly earned leadership recognition from his teammates, being named team captain and Most Outstanding Senior. In his final season, he played in 13 games, starting 10, and finished second on the team with 82 tackles.
