Houston Rockets Sign 7-Year NBA Veteran Josh Okogie

The Houston Rockets have added veteran forward Josh Okogie to their roster for the upcoming season.

Okogie, who spent the 2024-25 season with both the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets, played in 40 games, averaging 7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. He shot 44.3% from the field and 34.8% from three-point range.

On Tuesday, Okogie agreed to terms with the Rockets, signing a one-year, $3.1 million contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The signing adds another defensive-minded wing to Houston’s lineup as Okogie enters his 8th NBA season. Over his career, Okogie has averaged 6.3 points in 416 games.

Selected as the 20th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft from Georgia Tech, Okogie has played for the Timberwolves, Suns, and Hornets. His career stats include 6.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, with a shooting line of 40.6% from the field and 29.9% from deep.

The Rockets had an impressive 52-30 record in the 2024-25 season, finishing second in the Western Conference. However, they were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs in a seven-game series.

The Rockets have been one of the most active teams this offseason, making moves to strengthen their roster heading into the new campaign.
