Houston Rockets Sign Former Sacramento Kings Player
The Houston Rockets have signed Isaiah Crawford to a two-way contract after the Sacramento Kings waived their qualifying offer, making the young wing an unrestricted free agent. 
Crawford’s time with the Kings lasted just one season. During his brief tenure in Sacramento, he spent most of his time in the G-League, where he averaged 13.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, shooting 50.2% from the field and 44.2% from three-point range, according to Basketball Reference.
While his G-League stats were strong, Crawford saw limited NBA action, playing only 46 minutes across 15 games for Sacramento.
With the Kings’ roster nearly full, they recently rescinded their qualifying offer to Crawford, signaling a shift in their plans for the final two-way contract spot after the addition of Doug McDermott.
Despite the Kings’ need for more wing depth, especially given Crawford’s 6-foot-6 frame and 7-foot-1 wingspan, they opted to move in a different direction. Crawford’s defensive prowess could have been a valuable asset, but the emergence of rookie Nique Clifford made it harder for Crawford to secure a spot. Crawford was also brought in under the previous regime, led by Monte McNair, who signed him after he went undrafted.
Crawford’s struggles in Summer League—where he averaged just 3.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.7 assists on 35% shooting—were likely an indicator that his future would lie elsewhere. His declining minutes during the Summer League tournament further signaled that the Kings were moving on.
Now in Houston, Crawford faces another challenge: earning minutes on a team already stocked with promising young wings. However, Crawford is determined to prove he belongs in the NBA, drawing motivation from teammates like Keon Ellis and Isaac Jones, who were promoted from two-way contracts to full roster spots.
While he didn’t get that opportunity with Sacramento, here’s hoping Crawford can find his niche with the Rockets.
