Pacers Criticized for Offseason Moves
The Indiana Pacers’ front office has faced heavy criticism for its offseason decisions. 
The team was blindsided by the injury to two-time All-NBA point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who suffered a serious Achilles tendon tear. Haliburton, who hurt his foot in a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals, has already been ruled out for the entire 2025-26 season.
ESPN insider Kevin Pelton gave the Pacers’ front office a disappointing D grade in his comprehensive review of all 30 NBA teams’ offseasons.
Pelton remarked, “It’s possible that we’ll look back and think the Pacers were better off not locking in Myles Turner for his mid-30s, but fiscal prudence doesn’t win championships. Indiana also lost a key part of its starting lineup, one that relied more on fit than raw talent.”
Pelton further criticized the Pacers’ lack of a clear replacement for Turner, noting, “While I like the idea of taking a chance on Jay Huff, who shares a similar skill set, expecting him to start after being left out of Memphis’ playoff rotation is unrealistic. The Pacers’ other traditional centers—Tony Bradley, Isaiah Jackson, and James Wiseman—are all backup-caliber players at best.”
