Titans HC Shares QB Injury Update

A Tennessee Titans quarterback will miss the entire season after opting for shoulder surgery. The Titans are now gearing up to play without Will Levis in 2025.

Levis, who sustained the injury during Week 4 last September against the Miami Dolphins, had surgery to address the shoulder issue. While it caused him to miss some time last season, Levis will now spend all of 2025 recovering.

Titans head coach Brian Callahan offered an optimistic update on Levis’ surgery when speaking with reporters.

“I texted him yesterday,” Callahan said during a press conference, according to CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford. “He said everything went well. He was still recovering, so you know how that is sometimes. But overall, he seemed to be in good spirits, and everything looked great.”

The Titans had already planned for competition at quarterback, with No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward set to battle Levis for the starting role during training camp. With Levis now sidelined, Ward will take over as the starter by default.

Levis, instead of backing up Ward, will be replaced by Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle as the backup quarterbacks. There’s also the possibility the Titans could explore the trade market for another quarterback as camp progresses.

Levis is expected to fully recover by the 2026 season, which marks the final year of his four-year rookie deal. However, this injury could influence the Titans’ long-term plans, and there’s a chance they could part ways with him.

During his recovery, Levis will focus on healing while supporting Ward, who is set to make his Titans debut on Aug. 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
