Ohio State’s Ryan Day Reveals 1 Transfer Addition Catching Attention
Ryan Day Highlights Transfer Beau Atkinson as Standout in Ohio State Camp
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day recently pointed out transfer portal addition Beau Atkinson as a player who has caught attention during the team’s summer training camp.
“He’s come to Ohio State eager to prove himself,” Day said. “His teammates have really rallied around him.”
Atkinson transferred to the Buckeyes after spending two seasons at the University of North Carolina. In the 2024 season with the Tar Heels, he totaled 35 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss.
A strong pass rusher, Atkinson could make a significant impact at Ohio State, a program known for developing elite pass rushers like Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa, and Chase Young.
As the Buckeyes aim to repeat as National Champions, they face some changes from last season. With quarterback Will Howard moving on to the NFL, there’s no clear starter yet, and a quarterback competition remains between sophomore Julian Sayin, junior Lincoln Kienholz, and true freshman Tavien St. Clair.
How that quarterback battle plays out will be a key factor in Ohio State’s competitiveness this season. However, Atkinson’s development on defense will be equally important to the team’s success.
