Steelers Sign Former Minnesota Defensive Lineman Kyler Baugh

The Pittsburgh Steelers have bolstered their defensive line by signing former Minnesota Gophers standout Kyler Baugh, following a series of injuries to their defensive front, per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

The team has been dealing with multiple injuries at the position since training camp began, with defensive linemen Dean Lowry, Jacob Slade, and Esezi Otomewo all suffering knee injuries in the second week. In response, the Steelers have added Baugh, an undrafted free agent, just days before their first preseason game.

Baugh spent part of last season on the practice squad with the Atlanta Falcons but did not see any game action. During his time at Minnesota, Baugh played 26 games, recording 77 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 4 pass deflections, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. After his college career, he signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL, where he appeared in four games and totaled 14 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and a sack.

Now, Baugh will compete with several others, including Isaiahh Loudermilk, Daniel Ekuale, Dominique Davis, Yayha Black, and Logan Lee, for a spot on the roster as the Steelers finalize their lineup for the season.
