Fresno State Football: Four Bulldogs Earn Spots on Prestigious Award Watchlists for 2025

As the 2025 season approaches, the Fresno State Bulldogs are gearing up for a fresh campaign, with a new head coach and several exciting additions to both their offense and defense. The Bulldogs are aiming to capture their first Mountain West title since 2022.

Recently, the National College Football Awards Association released the watchlists for several major football honors, and four Bulldogs have made the cut.

Fresno State defensive back Al’Zillon Hamilton is on the Jim Thorpe Award watchlist, which recognizes the top defensive back in college football. Hamilton will compete for this prestigious award, joining the ranks of previous winners such as Minkah Fitzpatrick, Charles Woodson, and Deion Sanders.

Kicker Dylan Lynch is included on the Lou Groza Award watchlist, awarded to the best kicker in college football. Over his three seasons, Lynch has made 43 of 57 field goals, including a career-long 52-yard kick in 2023. He’s also a perfect 93-of-94 on extra points, and his inclusion on the list positions him as a strong contender for the award this year.

Wesley Brown, the Bulldogs’ long snapper, is a nominee for the Patrick Mannelly Award, which honors the best long snapper in the nation. Brown has consistently proven to be a dependable option for Fresno State throughout his career.

Lastly, wide receiver Jordan Brown has made the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy watchlist. This award celebrates student-athletes who use their platform to make a positive impact on their communities. Brown had 77 receiving yards last season, including 38 yards in the bowl game against Northern Illinois. Off the field, he strives to inspire and help others.

With these players earning recognition, Fresno State’s roster is filled with talent. Head coach Matt Entz is focused on bringing the team together, and these key players could emerge as leaders as the Bulldogs look to make a run for the title in 2025.
