Timberwolves to Face Rival Nuggets in San Diego for Preseason Opener
The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to kick off their 2025 preseason on October 4, facing off against the Denver Nuggets at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT. 
Recent playoff matchups have fueled a growing rivalry between the two Western Conference teams, with the Timberwolves taking the upper hand in their most recent encounter—a victory in the 2024 conference semifinals.
While San Diego hasn’t hosted an NBA team since the Clippers relocated in 1984, Pechanga Arena has a long history in the league. The San Diego Rockets and Golden State Warriors also played some of their home games there during the late 60s and early 70s.
Although it’s just a preseason game, this matchup between two of the West’s top teams will feature plenty of intrigue as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.
Training camps for all NBA teams will begin on September 24, and the regular season will tip off on October 21.
