Guardians Manager Stephen Vogt Reflects on Series Win Over Marlins
The Cleveland Guardians had a mixed bag in their three-game series against the Miami Marlins, but ultimately secured two victories, clinching the series win.
Following Thursday night’s decisive win, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt shared his thoughts on the team’s performance.
Tanner Bibee’s Resilient Start 
Although Tanner Bibee didn’t have his sharpest outing, Vogt was impressed with his ability to battle through adversity.
“I thought that was a gritty performance from [Bibee],” Vogt said. “Given how things have been going for him lately, starting the way he did could have easily gotten him down. But he rebounded really well, went five and two-thirds innings, and gave us a chance to win. I’m really proud of how he finished.”
Bibee allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits, walked two batters, and struck out five. While not his best performance, the 26-year-old pitcher recovered well after a shaky first inning.
Austin Hedges’ Strong Game and Fan Support
One of Cleveland’s standout performers was catcher Austin Hedges, who delivered two hits and an RBI. His performance even sparked “Hedgey” chants from the fans at Progressive Field.
Vogt was quick to acknowledge the fan support, saying, “We love our fans, we love playing at Progressive.” He continued, “I love when fans recognize a player having a good night or needing support. For Hedgy, he’s been working incredibly hard all year, and it’s great to see him have a game like that.”
Guardians Focused on Continued Success
With this series win, Cleveland has now claimed victory in their last five series as they continue their push for a playoff spot. Vogt emphasized that winning series is the team’s primary goal moving forward.
“That’s the goal—winning series. Our guys have been playing really good baseball the last six weeks or so. I don’t even keep track of time anymore. But we just want to keep this trend going and give ourselves a chance to win every night,” said Vogt.
Looking ahead, the Guardians will face the Atlanta Braves for a three-game series at home this weekend, as they continue to chase postseason hopes.
