Saints-Packers Mock Trade Sends $4.3 Million WR Romeo Doubs to New Orleans
The New Orleans Saints are in desperate need of additional depth at wide receiver. 
In a recent piece, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay suggested that the Green Bay Packers might be inclined to trade wide receiver Romeo Doubs if he seeks a move before the regular season. This scenario is looking increasingly likely.
Kay explained, “With first-round pick Matthew Golden and third-rounder Savion Williams joining an already crowded Packers receiving group that includes seven competent pass-catchers, some players will have to be moved.” The most logical trade candidate among this group is Doubs, a fourth-year receiver entering the final year of his rookie contract.
The 25-year-old has been an important part of Green Bay’s offense since being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. After a promising 2023 season, where he caught 59 passes for 674 yards and eight touchdowns, Doubs followed up with a solid 2024 campaign, posting 46 catches, 601 yards, and four touchdowns despite missing four games.
With his contract expiring, Doubs may look for a situation where he can play a more prominent role. Given the Packers’ deep receiving corps, he may struggle to secure consistent targets in Green Bay.
Why the Saints Should Trade for Romeo Doubs
A trade to New Orleans would benefit both the Saints and Doubs. The Saints are in urgent need of an additional receiver to help their young quarterbacks, such as Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, or Jake Haener, succeed. Currently, outside of veteran running back Alvin Kamara and injury-prone wideout Chris Olave, the Saints have limited offensive weapons.
Adding Doubs would provide whichever quarterback wins the job with a reliable WR2 option alongside Olave, and his solid red-zone presence would make him an excellent fit in New Orleans’ offense.
For Doubs, a trade would likely be a better situation than competing for targets in Green Bay. While the Packers’ offense is stronger, Doubs would likely see more opportunities in New Orleans, which could boost his value as he enters free agency.
In exchange, the Packers would likely receive one or two mid-round draft picks for the talented but expiring wide receiver.
