5-Star Forward Lists Gonzaga Among Top Six Finalists
Cameron Holmes, a 5-star small forward, has named Gonzaga as one of his top six finalists, according to DuShawn London of 247Sports. 
Holmes has narrowed his options to six schools, with official visits already scheduled for Illinois (Sept. 12), North Carolina (Sept. 19), Oklahoma (Oct. 3), Texas (Oct. 31), Arizona (Dec. 5), and Gonzaga.
Gonzaga will host Holmes on Nov. 7, just a week after his visit to Texas and nearly a month before his trip to Arizona. He will be attending the Zags’ game against recruiting rival Oklahoma at the Spokane Arena on Nov. 8.
Holmes is ranked No. 25 in the 2026 class by 247Sports’ consensus rankings, and No. 9 among small forwards. On3/Rivals has him ranked No. 30 overall. He is the younger brother of Denver Nuggets forward DaRon Holmes, who was a first-round pick in 2024 after a standout career at Dayton.
Known for his strength and length, Holmes boasts a 6’9″ wingspan and is a physical presence on both ends of the floor. His quick decision-making and off-the-ball movement make him an attractive prospect for teams that like to play fast. Notably, all six of his finalists ranked in the top 110 for tempo at KenPom last year, with Texas’ tempo ranking coming from their final season under Sean Miller at Xavier.
Gonzaga is actively pursuing athletic wings for the 2026 class, and Holmes is a top target. The Zags are also vying for two other five-star wings: No. 1 overall Tyran Stokes and No. 8 Baba Oladotun, both of whom have expressed plans to visit Gonzaga, though exact dates remain uncertain.
In addition to Holmes, Gonzaga is hosting several 4-star recruits, including power forward Ethan Harris (Aug. 29), combo guard JRob Croy (Sept. 12), small forward Herly Brutus, and center Sam Funches (Oct. 3). The Zags are also eyeing 2027 prospects, such as four-star guard Jalen Davis from Gig Harbor, as well as guards Gene Roebuck III and Dooney Johnson. It’s been a busy summer for coach Mark Few and the Gonzaga staff on the recruiting front.
