Can Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes Flip Elite 4-Star Recruit Alister Vallejo from Michigan?
Four-star defensive lineman Alister Vallejo, who committed to the Michigan Wolverines in June, is now the target of a late push from the Colorado Buffaloes. Despite his commitment, Colorado has extended an offer to Vallejo in hopes of flipping him for their 2026 class. But can Coach Deion Sanders make it happen?
On August 19, Vallejo confirmed receiving an offer from Colorado through his X account. With the 2025 season fast approaching, it remains to be seen whether Sanders and the Buffaloes can convince Vallejo to change his commitment.
Vallejo’s Recruiting Profile
Vallejo ranks as one of the top defensive line prospects in the 2026 class. According to Rivals Industry Rankings, he’s the No. 25 defensive lineman, No. 31 player from Texas, and No. 227 overall recruit in the nation.
Despite being committed to Michigan, Vallejo is still drawing interest from numerous top programs. In addition to Colorado, schools like Miami, SMU, and Notre Dame have all extended offers.
The 6’4”, 280-pound recruit also has a background in track and field, which contributes to his impressive athleticism. While his strength is a major asset, his versatility as an athlete sets him apart.
Though Colorado and other schools are in hot pursuit, flipping Vallejo will be no easy task. Still, it’s not out of the question. As Vallejo told On3, “More schools have started to pick up on me and reach out. I like where I am right now. If they want to recruit me, there is nothing I can do about it.”
Why Vallejo Would Be a Game-Changer for Colorado
Last season, Colorado led the Big 12 in sacks with 39 and was one of the best defenses in the conference. Vallejo, with 18 sacks and 26 hurries in the last two seasons, would be a massive addition to their defensive line. He could also be an asset on special teams, having blocked five kicks over two seasons. Though it may take a lot to sway him from Michigan, the Buffaloes are certainly in the mix for this elite recruit.
