Jets Announce Several Roster Moves, Waive Two Rookies
The New York Jets are finalizing their roster cuts, trimming down to 53 players in preparation for a more promising 2025 season following a disappointing 2024 campaign. 
In the offseason, the Jets made significant changes, including parting ways with Aaron Rodgers and opting for Justin Fields at quarterback. While Fields hasn’t yet reached superstar status, he has brought a refreshing change to the team compared to the drama surrounding Rodgers, with Fields having higher upside if he can put everything together.
Additionally, the Jets hired Aaron Glenn as their new head coach, injecting a defensive-focused mentality and much-needed energy into the team.
On Saturday, the Jets made a series of moves as part of their roster cut-down process, which must be completed by Tuesday’s deadline.
Jets Announce Multiple Roster Moves, Waive Six Players
“The Jets have waived six players: cornerback Mario Goodrich, offensive tackle Samuel Jackson, tight end Neal Johnson, wide receiver Dymere Miller, defensive tackle Fatorma Mullbah, and wide receiver Ontaria ‘Pokey’ Wilson,” wrote Jets reporter Eric Allen shortly after the moves were made. “The team must reduce their roster to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. They will also be allowed to form a practice squad of 16 players (or 17 if a player is part of the International Pathway Program).”
Goodrich, who was claimed off waivers earlier this preseason, failed to make an impact with the Jets. Miller and Wilson were both intriguing options for the final wide receiver spot. Miller, who could have contributed as a kick returner, may still land on the practice squad, while Wilson has potential that remains untapped.
None of these moves should be too surprising to Jets fans, as they were widely anticipated. However, the real intrigue will come in the next few days as the team makes tougher decisions, including whether or not to cut Malachi Corley. The next few days will be crucial as New York works towards finalizing its roster.
