Vikings’ Latest Roster Moves and Rumors on Cutdown Day
It’s NFL roster cutdown day, and all 32 teams — including the Minnesota Vikings — must finalize their initial 53-man rosters for the 2025 season by 3 p.m. CT. While these rosters will continue to evolve through waiver claims and other transactions, today marks the first official step in shaping Week 1 lineups.
Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has already been active leading up to the deadline. The team recently traded away Harrison Phillips, Sam Howell, and Mekhi Blackmon, acquiring additional late-round draft picks in return. Carson Wentz was brought in to replace Howell, and the Vikings have already started trimming the roster. There are also ongoing talks with the Panthers about a potential reunion with Adam Thielen.

9:58 a.m. — Offensive Line Move
The Vikings are waiving OL Michael Gonzalez, who had just joined the team via waivers two weeks ago. He played the entire final preseason game at left guard but didn’t do enough to secure a spot. -
9:56 a.m. — K.J. Osborn Hits the Market
Wide receiver K.J. Osborn has been released by the Commanders. If Minnesota doesn’t land Adam Thielen, Osborn could be a strong fallback option. He’s familiar with head coach Kevin O’Connell’s system and, as a vested veteran, he’s not subject to waivers. -
9:43 a.m. — RB Xazavian Valladay Let Go
The Vikings are waiving running back Xazavian Valladay. Although he performed well in the final preseason game, he was always a long shot to make the final roster.
