Dan Orlovsky Blasts Cowboys for Micah Parsons Trade: “One of the Worst Moves in Franchise History”
Dan Orlovsky didn’t hold back when discussing the Dallas Cowboys’ shocking decision to trade star linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. The former NFL quarterback called the deal a monumental mistake and suggested it signals the decline of the Cowboys’ once-iconic image.
Speaking on Get Up Friday morning, Orlovsky was direct in his criticism:
“Good organizations do not trade Hall of Fame players in their prime. Right now, the Cowboys are not a good organization.”
Orlovsky believes the trade—reportedly for late first-round picks—will go down as one of the worst in team history. He emphasized that the return for a generational talent like Parsons is minimal, especially considering the Packers are expected to perform well with quarterback Jordan Love at the helm.
“They traded away a future Hall of Famer for what will essentially be early second-round picks,” Orlovsky said.
He also pointed to a deeper issue—the fading prestige of the Cowboys’ brand.
“When I was growing up, no one left the Cowboys. The fact that Micah wanted out — that says something. The allure of the star feels gone.”
Orlovsky didn’t mince words when assessing Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ role in the move, declaring he lost both the business and football side of the trade.
“From every angle—negotiation, planning, execution—Jerry Jones lost. This is one of the darkest days the franchise has had under his ownership.”
He also criticized the idea that Dallas could flip the picks into a future quarterback, saying:
“You’re not getting Arch Manning at pick 30. That logic doesn’t hold up.”
The Cowboys are now facing heavy scrutiny from analysts and fans alike. While there’s still a chance the trade could look different in hindsight, at the moment, the Packers appear to be the clear winners—both in public perception and potential impact.
Time will tell who ultimately benefits most from this high-profile deal, but for now, Orlovsky and others believe Dallas made a critical error that could haunt the franchise for years to come.
