Tri-City Americans Open Training Camp at Toyota Arena in Kennewick

Quick Highlights:

  • The Tri-City Americans opened training camp today at Toyota Arena in Kennewick; all sessions are free and open to the public

  • New head coach Jody Hull is using the camp to assess incoming players and foster team chemistry

  • The preseason begins Sunday with a rookie-only matchup against Wenatchee, followed by a preseason tournament from Sept. 12–14

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Tri-City Americans officially kicked off training camp today at Toyota Arena, marking the start of preparations for the upcoming Western Hockey League season.

The camp will run through Saturday and features daily practices, scrimmages, and the fan-favorite Blue vs. White Bundlet Cup game. Admission is free, giving fans an early glimpse at this year’s squad.

New head coach Jody Hull is overseeing his first camp with the Americans. He’s using this time to evaluate talent and build team chemistry.

“We saw some strong first-day efforts,” Hull said. “The guys were excited — a bit nervous, too — but once they get another session in, I think they’ll start to settle in.”

Hull’s focus is on integrating new players into the system and laying the groundwork for the 2024-25 season.

After training camp wraps up, the Americans will launch their preseason campaign. Their first game is a rookie-only matchup against Wenatchee on Sunday — a chance for younger players to compete in real-game situations.

They’ll then host their annual preseason tournament from September 12–14, bringing in multiple teams and giving fans a broader look at the roster in action.

The regular season home opener is set for late next month, with the exact date still to be announced.

This camp signals the beginning of a new chapter for the Americans, who compete in the WHL’s U.S. Division. With open practices and games, local fans have a chance to connect early with the team as it builds momentum heading into the season.
