Grizzlies Sign Former Mavericks Forward to Two-Way Contract

The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly added a recent Dallas Mavericks forward to their roster. After a disappointing first-round playoff exit to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Grizzlies are reshaping their team for the 2025 NBA season. Their offseason moves have been highlighted by a blockbuster trade that sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic, but they haven’t stopped there.

One notable move was the signing of Ty Jerome in free agency. As a recent Sixth Man of the Year candidate, Jerome is expected to make a significant impact off the bench for Memphis. Despite losing Ja Morant’s backcourt partner, the Grizzlies are gearing up for an exciting 2025-26 campaign.

Grizzlies Add Another Piece

On Thursday, the Grizzlies made another move, reportedly signing forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper to a two-way contract as they finalize their 18-man roster for the new season. ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news, stating that Prosper, a free agent, had agreed to the deal. The 23-year-old forward had been weighing multiple offers before choosing Memphis as his next destination, entering his third NBA season.

Last week, the Mavericks waived Prosper, a move that has now allowed the Grizzlies to scoop him up. According to Charania, Memphis was one of several teams interested in trading for Prosper before Dallas ultimately waived him to make room for Dante Exum. The Grizzlies have now added the versatile, athletic forward to their roster as a free agent.

Prosper, who was selected 24th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, spent his first two seasons with the Mavericks. Last year, he averaged 3.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.5 steals in 11.2 minutes per game across 52 appearances, including four starts. While his role in Memphis may be limited initially, his talent as a depth piece on the wing could be valuable for the Grizzlies.

While Prosper is likely to spend significant time with the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, during his two-way contract, this could be a key opportunity for the 6-foot-8 forward to develop. Prosper has shown potential with his strong defensive abilities, but more time on the court is needed for him to fully grow into an impactful player.

If the Grizzlies are patient in nurturing his development, Prosper could eventually carve out a role on Memphis’ bench.
