LSU Football Recruiting Class Strengthened by Five-Star Commitment

Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers continue to dominate on the recruiting front, with their latest pledge boosting the class even further. Lamar Brown, a five-star prospect from Baton Rouge’s University Lab, committed to LSU in July, making his decision public.

Brown, the nation’s top-rated two-way recruit, chose LSU over major programs like Texas A&M, Texas, and Miami. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound standout is now considered a consensus Top-10 recruit in the 2026 class, showcasing his elite skills throughout his high school career.

Recently, Rivals’ Charles Power compared Brown to Travis Hunter, calling him the “Travis Hunter of linemen” due to his exceptional ability to play both offensive and defensive line. “Lamar Brown is a unique prospect,” Power said. “He’s played a lot of offensive line in high school but will likely be a defensive lineman at the next level. He’s 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, and ran a 4.8 in the 40-yard dash at the Under Armour New Orleans Camp. His versatility and athleticism are off the charts. LSU has to be thrilled to get him.”

Brown’s ranking has since skyrocketed, and he is now the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. As the crown jewel of LSU’s recruiting efforts, the Louisiana native will stay close to home for college, playing for his hometown team.

“Being a kid from the area, not everyone has the opportunity to stay home and play for the home team,” Brown said. “To have the chance to play for the home team, to shine on Saturdays—it’s a dream and it means a lot for any Louisiana kid.”

Brown’s decision was influenced by the strong push from LSU, despite late interest from Texas A&M. The chance to play in Tiger Stadium and represent his home state was too good to pass up. LSU’s recruiting efforts, led by Frank Wilson, played a key role in landing the talented prospect.

“It just feels good to play for my state and city. Not just for three or four years, but for years after football life,” Brown said. “I’m just blessed to be in this position and ready to play in Tiger Stadium. Frank Wilson has been on me since day one, and I’ve built strong relationships with everyone on the staff.”

With Brown now ranked as the top overall recruit in the 2026 class, LSU has added another major piece to their future.
