Cleveland Browns Lose Key Offensive Player for Rest of 2025 Season

The Cleveland Browns will reportedly be without starting offensive tackle Dawand Jones for the remainder of the 2025 season after he sustained a significant knee injury during Sunday’s victory over the Green Bay Packers.

While Browns fans were celebrating the team’s dramatic comeback win on Sunday, the mood shifted quickly during head coach Kevin Stefanski’s Monday afternoon press conference. Stefanski confirmed that Jones, who was injured early in the game, will miss the rest of the year due to the severity of the knee injury.

The injury occurred during a play when David Njoku caught a short pass from Joe Flacco and started heading upfield with blockers ahead, including Jones. Packers safety Javon Bullard collided with Jones’s right knee, causing what appeared to be a hyperextension. Unfortunately, the injury turned out to be much worse than initially thought, and Jones will be sidelined for the season.

This is a devastating blow not only for the Browns but also for Jones, who had been building momentum as a rising star. The former Ohio State standout has now suffered a season-ending injury in each of his first three NFL seasons—one in 2023, followed by another leg injury in 2024.

Stefanski now faces even more challenges with an offense that struggled for the majority of Sunday’s win. With Jones and Jack Conklin, the expected starting tackles, both out, the offensive line is significantly weakened. The Browns are also dealing with two 30-plus-year-old linemen, Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller, who are set to hit the open market after the season. What was once the strongest unit on the team is now becoming a potential liability.

Jones’s injury could also affect any plans to start Dillon Gabriel over Flacco in the near future. While Stefanski stuck with the veteran on Sunday, moving to Gabriel now could expose him to more pressure, especially with the weakened offensive line and the inexperience at skill positions. It would be a tough environment for any rookie quarterback to thrive in.

Jones is under contract through 2026, so he’s expected to return next year. Hopefully, this third consecutive season-ending injury won’t prevent him from reaching his potential as an emerging star in the NFL.
