Dan Campbell’s Postgame Remarks After Lions’ 38-30 Win Over Ravens

Here’s everything Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell shared during his postgame press conference after his team’s 38-30 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, improving their season record to 2-1.

Opening Statement:
“That was a great win. I’m really proud of the guys. We talked about complementary football, and we needed each unit to step up at different times. The offense needed the defense, the defense needed the offense, and special teams needed both. We were able to corral Lamar Jackson, limit Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers, and come away with crucial takeaways and stops. Offensively, we controlled the clock and had big plays when needed. It was a complete team effort, and I’m proud of the players and coaches. A huge win.”

On Beating John Harbaugh’s Team:
“I have a lot of respect for Coach Harbaugh and his team—they’ve been at the top of the AFC for years. To come in here, on a Monday night, against such a talented squad, and win, that’s big for us. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a ‘statement win,’ but it feels good to play against that kind of team and still find a way to win. It took everything we had, and I’m proud of the players.”

On Winning with Physicality:
“It means a lot. You can’t underestimate how tough that team is. We knew we had to be physical, and we were ready. Our guys stepped up, made huge plays, and showed toughness. It was a big win for us, and everyone contributed when it mattered most.”

On Containing Lamar Jackson:
“I’m very proud. It was something we worked on. We had Malik Cunningham run similar plays in practice, and it really opened our eyes. By the end of the week, we felt good about our chances. Our defense was disciplined—they closed the net on Lamar without overcommitting or diving recklessly. It was a complete effort, and the guys did a fantastic job.”

On Sustaining Two 95-Yard Drives:
“That’s not easy, especially on the road with the crowd noise. The goal is usually to get three first downs to flip the field, but we went beyond that and drove the full distance. That’s impressive, and it took a lot of digging from our guys. They earned it.”

On the Game Serving as an Instructional Model:
“I’m not sure if it would be the perfect video for how to win, but this was definitely the type of game we needed for this opponent. Not every game is the same. Some require more explosiveness, others more ground game. But for this one, we executed perfectly.”

On Defense Responding Under Pressure:
“It was very encouraging. At some point, we’ll need one unit to step up and carry the other, and today we saw that. Whether it was Hutchinson, Muhammad, or Campbell, at critical moments, everyone made huge plays. When we needed it most, each unit picked up the slack—that’s what winning teams do.”

On Seven Sacks After Criticism of Pass Rush:
“We don’t listen to outside opinions about our pass rush. We know what we have, and we’re confident in it. It’s about doing your job, and our guys stepped up and did that today.”

On Confidence in Fourth-Down Call:
“I have a tremendous amount of trust in these guys—it’s been built over five years. The offensive line has been playing great, and it felt like the right call. Our players make those decisions come to life, and they stepped up in a big way.”

On Defensive Stars Leading by Example:
“Our best players are our hardest workers. It’s not just talk—it’s the standard. If you don’t match their effort, you won’t last here. Our hardest workers set the tone, and it’s contagious. That’s the culture we’ve built, and it makes everyone fall in line.”
