Blazers Sign Former Thunder and 76ers Forward Alex Reese in Free Agency
The Portland Trail Blazers have added forward Alex Reese to their roster ahead of the upcoming preseason.

This move comes just one week before the start of training camp, with Reese, 26, joining his third NBA team. He went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Reese’s connection to the Blazers is not new; this marks his third stint with the organization. In 2023, he played for the Blazers’ G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix. Over 32 games, he averaged 13.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 18.7 minutes per game.
Last season, he took his game to the next level, playing 16 games with 15 starts for the Remix. During that stretch, Reese posted impressive numbers: 19.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 50% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range in 30.3 minutes.
While his role with the Blazers is currently uncertain, Portland could be poised to surprise this season. They were competitive throughout much of last year, and with another year under coach Chauncey Billups, along with a mix of experienced veterans and athletic young talent, they might make some noise in the Western Conference.
Reese, a native of Alabama, spent four seasons at the University of Alabama, appearing in 124 games. Over that span, he averaged 6.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 0.4 steals per game, while shooting 38.7% from the field and 31.1% from three in 15.7 minutes per game.
