UNC Basketball Adds Three New Staff Members

In preparation for the upcoming season, the University of North Carolina’s basketball program has brought on three new staff members, as first reported by Andrew Jones of TarHeel247.

The new hires—Steven Dallas, Ragan Copeland, and Boris Crnjak—are all familiar with the university, having previously worked in various roles at UNC during their time as students. Their experience in multiple departments has provided them with a unique perspective on the university’s athletic culture.

Ragan Copeland

Ragan Copeland has been appointed as the Director of Community Engagement and will report directly to Head Coach Hubert Davis. Copeland joined the program in June after a two-year tenure as the head manager for the UNC basketball team, a role she held from April 2023 to May 2025. She had previously served as a student manager for the team, contributing to the program for four years in total. Copeland holds a dual degree in Business and Sports Administration and recently earned a master’s in Strategic Communication.

Additionally, she spent three years with the Kenan-Flagler Family Enterprise Center and was an active member of the Family Business Club for over a year, where she served as the communications chair. A native of the Triangle Area, Copeland attended Trinity School of Durham & Chapel Hill.

Steven Dallas

Steven Dallas has been hired as a part-time video coordinator, reporting to Coach Davis. He began his role in July after serving as a student manager for the basketball team during the previous season. Dallas, who graduated from UNC in 2025, hails from Eden, North Carolina, where he attended John M. Morehead High School. At Morehead, he was involved in football, baseball, honor society, Junior ROTC, the drill team, and served as student council vice president.

Boris Crnjak

Boris Crnjak joins the UNC men’s basketball program as a part-time data analyst, reporting to General Manager Jim Tanner. Crnjak began his role in September, bringing with him prior experience as a player personnel and recruiting intern for UNC’s football team from August 2022 to December 2024. In that capacity, he assisted in evaluating film, preparing prospect assessments, and managing the team’s recruiting and film databases.

Crnjak is also pursuing graduate studies at UNC, working towards a master’s degree in applied data science, which he will complete by December 2026. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Analytics, with a minor in Data Science.
