Patriots Add Veteran Linemen to Practice Squad Ahead of Week 5

As the New England Patriots prepare for their Week 5 showdown with the Buffalo Bills, the team has bolstered its practice squad with the addition of two experienced offensive linemen.

On Tuesday, the Patriots officially signed tackle Sebastian Gutierrez and guard Andrew Rupcich to their practice squad. To make room for the new additions, the team released guard Jack Conley and defensive lineman Fabien Lovett.

Gutierrez, who previously spent a short stint with the Patriots in 2022, returns to New England after spending time with multiple NFL teams, including the Raiders, 49ers, Chiefs, Browns, and Colts. The 27-year-old has appeared in two NFL games—one each with the Raiders (2022) and 49ers (2024)—and most recently attended training camp this summer with San Francisco and Cleveland.

Rupcich entered the league as a rookie free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2022. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound guard has played in 12 games, including two starts, during his time in Tennessee. After spending most of his first two seasons on the Titans’ practice squad, he was elevated to the active roster in 2023 before ending the season on injured reserve. He was recently released from Tennessee’s practice squad on September 29.

To clear roster space, the Patriots released Jack Conley, a versatile offensive lineman who rejoined the team’s practice squad earlier this month. Conley, a Boston College product, had experience across multiple positions on the offensive line and earned All-ACC honorable mention in his final collegiate season.

Also released was Fabien Lovett, a defensive tackle who joined New England’s practice squad in late August. Lovett had originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie in 2024 and played college football at Mississippi State and Florida State, where he appeared in 39 games and tallied 74 tackles and five sacks.
