Browns Add Two Young Receivers to Active Roster After Cedric Tillman Injury

The Cleveland Browns made several roster adjustments on Tuesday, highlighted by the promotion of wide receivers Malachi Corley and Gage Larvadain to the 53-man roster.

These moves follow the news that Cedric Tillman has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring issue, sidelining him for at least four games. Tillman, 25, had recorded 11 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns through four games before leaving early in Sunday’s 34-10 loss to the Lions.

Now 1-3, the Browns are preparing to face the Minnesota Vikings in London this Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (9:30 a.m. ET).

Larvadain Returns After Preseason Breakout

Gage Larvadain, an undrafted rookie from South Carolina, impressed during preseason, tying for the team lead in both receptions (9) and receiving yards (94) on 17 targets. Though he initially made the roster, he was waived after Week 1 and rejoined the team via the practice squad.

With both Tillman and DeAndre Carter (knee) on injured reserve, Larvadain could see his NFL debut this weekend.

Larvadain, who is 5-foot-8 and 171 pounds, played one season at South Carolina after transferring from Southeastern Louisiana and Miami (OH), finishing with 19 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown in 13 games.

Corley Gets Another Shot After Viral Mistake

Malachi Corley, a third-round pick by the New York Jets in 2024, was added from the practice squad. Known for his yards-after-catch ability and nicknamed the “YAC King,” Corley struggled in his rookie campaign, managing just three receptions for 16 yards on nine targets in nine games.

He went viral for a costly mistake last season, dropping the ball before crossing the goal line on what would have been his first NFL touchdown against the Texans.

After a quiet preseason, Corley was released by the Jets in August and signed to the Browns’ practice squad the following day. He has not yet appeared in a game this season.

Browns Make Changes in the Secondary

Cleveland also made moves in the defensive backfield, waiving cornerback Cameron Mitchell and signing Ameer Speed to the practice squad.

Speed, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound cornerback from Michigan State, was a sixth-round pick in 2023. He has logged 15 NFL appearances across stints with the Patriots, Colts, and Bears. He was waived by Chicago in August with an injury designation.
