Fresh Update: Big Announcement for Georgetown Hoyas
WASHINGTON – Georgetown volleyball returns to McDonough Arena this weekend for a pair of BIG EAST matchups. The Hoyas host Xavier on Friday, Oct. 3, before squaring off against Butler on Saturday, Oct. 4. Both matches are set for a 7 p.m. first serve.

About the Hoyas
Now in year three under Head Coach AJ Bonetti, Georgetown is averaging 12.3 kills per set on a .220 hitting percentage, while adding 13.2 digs and 2.0 blocks per set defensively. The Hoyas are off to a 2-0 BIG EAST start for the first time since 2018, when they opened league play with three straight victories.
Key contributors include Dionna Mitchell (193 kills, 3.22 per set), Samantha Soderlund (119 kills, 2.44 per set), and Maria Filippova (111 kills, .243 hitting percentage). Mitchell also leads the team with 25 service aces, while setter Juleigh Urbina has recorded 380 assists (6.33 per set).
On defense, Kamryn Lee-Caracci (41 blocks), Berkeley Ploder (39), and Katherine McGregor (37) anchor the net. Graduate transfer Jade Smith has impressed in her first season, tallying 143 digs at 2.55 per set.
The roster welcomed five newcomers in 2025: Jessica Lee, Katherine McGregor, Sydney Mercado, Fiona Turnbull, and Samantha Soderlund.
