Giannis Antetokounmpo Shares 7-Word Take on Bucks’ Title Hopes

When asked about the Milwaukee Bucks’ chances of winning the title this year, Giannis Antetokounmpo kept his response simple and direct.

After securing the NBA championship in 2021, the Bucks haven’t come close to returning to the Finals, falling in the first round in each of the past three seasons.

During the offseason, Antetokounmpo had hinted at possibly leaving Milwaukee, but now that he’s back, he remains optimistic about their title prospects. In an interview with Greek outlet Sport 24 before training camp, he was asked about their chances of winning it all, and he said, “Yeah, we have a chance. For sure.”

Giannis seems pleased with the team’s offseason moves, particularly the signing of Myles Turner, who adds a significant upgrade at center. Turner brings better rim protection and the ability to hit three-pointers, improving on what Brook Lopez provided last season.

With Damian Lillard no longer with the team, Antetokounmpo will have more opportunities to be the primary playmaker, giving him more chances to control the game.

Giannis Can’t Do It Alone: Bucks Need Help

While Antetokounmpo can lead the Bucks to the playoffs, he can’t carry them to the championship without help from his teammates. For the Bucks to go all the way, Turner must play at a high level. Additionally, Kyle Kuzma needs to step up after a less-than-expected performance following his trade acquisition. Gary Trent Jr. has to replicate his solid playoff form from last year, and Kevin Porter Jr. will need to take his game to the next level.

Last season, Giannis posted averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, while shooting 60.1% from the field, though his three-point shooting remained a weakness at just 22.2%.
