This weekend, South Carolina football extended an offer to one of the premier players in the class of 2028. Four-star cornerback Nate Dollard of Charlotte Country Day School announced the news on social media, giving a nod to Gamecocks defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.
Though only a sophomore, Dollard already stands out as a top-tier cornerback with offers from double-digit programs across the SEC, ACC, and Big Ten. He has spoken most often about Georgia and Tennessee, having visited both, and has also been to Florida State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Vanderbilt. Upcoming trips are planned to Notre Dame, North Carolina, and NC State.
As a Charlotte native, Dollard’s closest Power Five program is South Carolina, and he was on campus this summer for a prospect camp.
Listed at 6 feet tall, Dollard combines length with strong coverage instincts. He excels at mirroring receivers, disrupting passes, and showing a high football IQ. Beyond defense, he makes plays on offense as a wide receiver and contributes on special teams. Earlier this season, he returned a kickoff for a touchdown, showcasing his speed and agility.
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Dollard is the No. 79 overall recruit in the 2028 cycle, ranked fifth in North Carolina, and ninth nationally among cornerbacks. He’s part of a strong group of elite prospects emerging from the Charlotte area.
