Giannis Antetokounmpo Expresses Confidence in Bucks’ 2025-26 Championship Hopes
After an offseason filled with speculation about his future, Giannis Antetokounmpo is heading into the 2025–26 season fully committed to the Milwaukee Bucks — and optimistic about their chances.
Trade rumors swirled around Antetokounmpo all summer, as he appeared to be weighing his options beyond Milwaukee. But with the new season approaching, those talks have cooled, and the Bucks have made notable roster moves to strengthen their core around him.
Now, Giannis is voicing his confidence in the team’s potential to contend for a title.
Giannis Sees Promise in Bucks’ Style of Play
In an interview with Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Antetokounmpo shared his thoughts after recently returning from a bout with COVID-19. Despite missing time, he studied film and came away encouraged by what he saw.
“I watched film today, and I see the potential this team has,” Giannis said. “We can play fast. We’re athletic. We just have to keep the ball moving. When the ball sticks, we’re not as good. But we can space the floor, and we’ve got a lot of shooting. Defensively, I believe we’ll be very strong.”
He also hinted at taking on more playmaking responsibility this year, especially with Damian Lillard no longer on the roster. Antetokounmpo may see increased time as the team’s primary ball-handler.
Building Chemistry is the Focus
Giannis stressed that team chemistry will be the key to their success.
“We just have to come together like glue,” he said. “When we do that, we’re going to be in a good place.”
Now back and healthy, Antetokounmpo is eager to build that on-court connection with Myles Turner and Cole Anthony, two of Milwaukee’s biggest offseason additions.
Another Big Season Ahead?
Antetokounmpo remains one of the league’s top talents. Last season, he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. If the Bucks can build around his leadership and keep the roster healthy, they could once again be serious contenders in the East.
