Offensive Tackle Landry Brede Chooses Ohio State Over NC State
Landry Brede felt it was the right time to become a Buckeye.
The three-star offensive tackle from Mentor High School in Ohio had been committed to NC State since June after an official visit to Raleigh.
However, Brede decided to take his time and make the best decision for his future, ultimately choosing Ohio State.
Ohio State had made it clear they would be reevaluating all prospects, as shared by General Manager Mark Pantoni.
“We plan to re-evaluate around 300 players,” Pantoni said during the first week of training camp. “We always aim to discover a few gems, but the number of players we assess will remain steady. After the summer, we’re in a good spot with 21 commitments.”
Brede received an offer from Ohio State in early September, and it was clear he would need to seriously consider it.
“It felt amazing to finally get an offer from the school I’ve grown up watching,” Brede shared. “I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to play for such a prestigious program.”
Following the offer, Brede made an unofficial visit to Ohio State during the Sept. 13 night game against Ohio. It was there that he formed a strong bond with offensive line coach Tyler Bowen.
“I’ve talked to Coach Bowen a couple of times in person, and even more through calls and FaceTime,” Brede said. “I really like him. He’s excellent at what he does and an even better person.”
Brede is now the 21st commitment in Ohio State’s 2026 class, which is shaping up to be another top-tier group under head coach Ryan Day, currently ranked in the top ten by Rivals.
