Sophie Cunningham discussed Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever locker room on the latest episode of her podcast.

Sophie Cunningham’s debut season with the Indiana Fever began with high hopes but was derailed by injury. The veteran guard joined the team ahead of the 2025 WNBA season to bring leadership and experience to a young, promising squad centered around Caitlin Clark. Cunningham quickly became a key contributor, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists over 30 games while shooting an impressive 43.2% from beyond the arc, before suffering a season-ending right MCL tear in August against the Connecticut Sun.

Even after her injury, Cunningham stayed engaged with the team, maintaining a visible presence on the sidelines and developing a strong connection with Clark, who also sustained a season-ending injury later in the year. The two were often seen courtside during Indiana’s remarkable postseason run, supporting their teammates and showcasing the tight bond that had formed between them.

As WNBA players settle into their offseason break, Sophie Cunningham offered fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Indiana Fever’s team chemistry during the latest episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast.

When her co-host West Wilson asked whether Caitlin Clark holds any influence behind the scenes, Cunningham didn’t hesitate to answer:

“Yeah, as she should. When you have a generational talent like that, she deserves to have a strong voice in the system.”

Cunningham also highlighted Caitlin Clark’s developing chemistry with veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell, noting how their connection has become a key part of the Fever’s success:

“When she got in with Kelsey Mitchell, those two both need the ball in their hands,” Cunningham said. “But they’ve figured it out — they each get their moments, and when they’re lifting each other up, that team becomes unstoppable.”

Clark has continued to earn high praise from teammates and coaches for more than just her playmaking — her leadership and poise have also stood out. Before her injury, she was averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds over 13 games, earning her second straight WNBA All-Star selection and serving as team captain.

Even though she missed the latter half of the season, Clark’s influence as the Fever’s franchise cornerstone and a guiding voice for the team’s future remains unquestioned.
