Seahawks Add Former Bears WR Tyler Scott to Practice Squad
The Seattle Seahawks have added another potential weapon to their offensive arsenal, signing wide receiver Tyler Scott to their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Scott, a 2023 fourth-round pick out of Cincinnati by the Chicago Bears, joins a Seahawks offense led by quarterback Sam Darnold and standout wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, which has been one of the league’s most dynamic this season.
To make room, Seattle released undrafted rookie WR Tyrone Broden, who had been with the team since signing in early May.
Tyler Scott’s NFL Journey So Far
Scott saw action in all 17 games as a rookie for the Bears in 2023, starting four and recording 17 catches for 168 yards. However, his role diminished in 2024, as he made just one reception before being waived during Chicago’s final roster cuts on August 26. He was then signed to the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad but was let go in late September.
At 5-foot-10, 182 pounds, Scott is known for his speed, running a 4.44-second 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Combine. While he’s not likely to crack Seattle’s deep receiving rotation without injuries, his quickness and experience offer value if he’s ever elevated on game days.
Depth Move with Upside
Seattle’s wide receiver room is already stacked, but Scott offers more NFL experience and upside than Broden. Even if he doesn’t make an immediate impact, the move gives the Seahawks a more polished depth option and potential deep-threat insurance.
With head coach Mike Macdonald and OC Klint Kubiak continuing to fine-tune an already potent offense, Scott’s addition could prove useful as the season progresses.
