The Sacramento Kings announced that All-Star center Domantas Sabonis will miss the start of the season due to a hamstring injury.

According to the team, an MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain in Sabonis’s hamstring, and he will be re-evaluated in one week. The injury occurred during the Kings’ preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on October 15.

Sacramento begins the 2025–26 campaign on the road against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday before returning home to face the Utah Jazz in their home opener on Friday.

The Kings are dealing with multiple early-season injuries, as forward Keegan Murray is also expected to miss at least a month after tearing the UCL in his left thumb.

Sabonis, 28, is a three-time All-Star and the NBA’s leading rebounder in each of the past three seasons. Last year, he averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and six assists per game for Sacramento, which has failed to reach the playoffs in four of the last five years.
