Cincinnati Bearcats Football Secures 21st Commitment for 2026 Class
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats scored a victory both on and off the field Saturday, earning their 21st commitment in the 2026 recruiting class. Linebacker Jaxon Newton announced his commitment to Cincinnati after attending the team’s 41–20 homecoming win over Baylor.
Newton, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound senior, is currently unranked by major recruiting services but held several offers, including one from Toledo. He’ll look to continue Cincinnati’s tradition of strong linebacker play as part of the Bearcats’ growing 2026 class.
Following the dominant win, head coach Scott Satterfield praised the atmosphere at Nippert Stadium and the team’s performance.
“What an awesome atmosphere,” Satterfield said. “I’m really proud of our defense—Coach [Tyson] Veidt and the entire defensive staff put together a great plan to contain one of the top passing offenses in the country. Holding them to just 137 passing yards was incredible. Our offense also did a great job controlling the game, rushing for 265 yards and winning the time of possession by 10 minutes. It was a complete team effort.”
