Rams Receive Encouraging Injury Update Ahead of 49ers Matchup

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — The Los Angeles Rams opened the week with some promising news as they prepare to face the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara. Their first injury report suggests the team could be close to full strength heading into the divisional showdown.

Rams Injury Report

Did Not Participate:

  • Jordan Whittington (back) – Head coach Sean McVay said Whittington is making good progress, though no final decision has been made on his availability for Sunday.

Limited Participants:

  • Puka Nacua (chest)
  • Darious Williams (shoulder)
Both players are reportedly improving and are expected to suit up against the 49ers.

McVay on Protecting Puka Nacua

Coach McVay addressed the hit Nacua took during a critical fourth-down play last week, admitting he felt responsible for the situation that left his receiver vulnerable.

“I felt sick,” McVay said Monday. “That fourth-down play where he takes that side shot — that’s on me. You hate to put such a tough, talented player in a position to take that kind of hit, even though it was a play we thought gave us the best chance to convert.”

McVay praised Nacua’s toughness and impact, noting how his effort energizes the team:

“He’s such a physical player and you can feel his presence right away. Even when a screen wasn’t blocked well, he broke a tackle and helped set up a touchdown drive. He and Matthew [Stafford] made some great plays downfield, and he just continues to show incredible competitiveness.”

The coach admitted he regretted calling a play that left Nacua open to a rib shot, saying:

“There are always risks in this game, but as a coach, you look back and question how to make those decisions smarter while still doing what’s best for the team.”

49ers Injury Report

Did Not Participate:

  • Christian McCaffrey (rest)
  • Ricky Pearsall (knee)
  • Mykel Williams (knee)
  • Trent Williams (rest) – Williams tore his ACL last week and has been placed on injured reserve, officially ruling him out.

Limited Participants:

  • Tatum Bethune (thigh)
  • Jake Brendel (hamstring)
  • Bryce Huff (hamstring)
  • Brock Purdy (toe)
  • Dee Winters (knee)

Full Participants:

  • Ben Bartch (ankle)
  • Jauan Jennings (ankle/shoulder)
  • Mac Jones (knee)
  • Darrell Luter (Achilles)

Overall, both teams appear relatively healthy heading into the NFC West clash, but the Rams’ near-clean bill of health gives them a welcome boost against their longtime rivals.
