What Mark Few Said After Gonzaga Dominated Creighton in Top-25 Clash

Bulldogs Cruise to Wire-to-Wire Win Over Bluejays

What began as a tightly contested matchup between two ranked programs quickly turned into a rout, as Gonzaga dismantled Creighton 90–63 on Tuesday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Led by Graham Ike’s 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, the Bulldogs delivered a complete performance — smothering the Bluejays defensively and turning a modest halftime lead into a blowout. Gonzaga erupted on a 19–0 second-half run, transforming a six-point edge into a 32-point cushion and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The Zags forced 18 turnovers, converting them into 27 points, while holding Creighton to just 36.7% shooting from the field.

Here’s what head coach Mark Few had to say after the win:

On Gonzaga’s Point Guard Play

“I thought Braeden [Smith] was terrific — he played with great pace and made smart reads against their drop coverage,” Few said. “Mario came in during the second half and really gave us a spark, similar to what he did against Oklahoma. Both of them deserve high marks. They’re also doing a solid job defensively, staying in front of guys and using their hands to make plays.”

On the Second-Half Defense and Jalen Warley’s Impact

“We can put lineups out there that really defend,” Few said. “They enjoy it — they feed off each other’s energy and disrupt a lot.”

“Jalen’s special in that regard. He flies around, finds the ball, and doesn’t let anything throw him off even when teams sag off him. He’s cutting, screening, creating openings for teammates, and making plays in transition. He’s off to a great start this year.”

On Limiting Turnovers

“I mentioned it to them afterward — that’s something all our best teams have done well: take care of the ball,” Few said. “We played at a pretty fast tempo tonight, and to only have eight turnovers while scoring 90 points shows good discipline.”

On Graham Ike Reaching 2,000 Career Points

“He’s incredible,” Few said. “He just keeps delivering, possession after possession — and most of his shots aren’t easy. We’ve had high scorers before who got a lot of clean looks; Graham usually has a hand in his face or traffic around him.”“He just has that knack for hitting big shots in big moments. Reaching 2,000 points is a huge accomplishment — really special.”

On Upcoming Road Trip to Arizona State

“We’ve got to play on the road, and that’s always a test,” Few said. “I know they have a strong student section, and they’ll be fired up to have us. We had a great game with them last year that went down to the wire, and I expect another tough battle on Friday.”
