Rams Defensive Backs Match Longstanding Franchise Record

The Los Angeles Rams’ secondary stole the spotlight in Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks, delivering a performance that tied a franchise milestone dating back to the early 2000s.

Rams Dominate the Passing Game

The Rams picked off Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold four times — two by Kamren Kinchens, with Cobie Durant and Darious Williams each adding one.

According to the Rams’ PR staff:
“The four interceptions tie the most the Rams have recorded in a single game this century (fifth occurrence, first since Week 16 of the 2022 season vs. Denver). It also ties their most ever against Seattle, the other instance coming in Week 8 of 1988. No NFL team has recorded more interceptions in a game this season.”

Head coach Sean McVay praised the unit after the win:
“I can’t say enough about what our defense did today — four interceptions, huge plays from Kamren Kinchens, Darious Williams, Cobie Durant. Stop after stop.”

McVay on the Secondary’s Development

Entering the season, the Rams faced constant scrutiny for not adding a cornerback, especially after Ahkello Witherspoon went down in Week 2. But the group has consistently risen to the challenge and made timely plays throughout the year.

After the game, McVay discussed how much the defensive backfield has grown:

“First off, Aubrey Pleasant deserves so much credit — his leadership has been huge,” McVay said. “Chris Beake has done a tremendous job as well, but ultimately it’s the players executing. Cobie Durant has been steady and reliable. Getting Darious Williams back has been big, and watching Emmanuel Forbes Jr. develop has been really fun — he’s competitive, tough, tackling well.”

McVay continued:
“Cobie is playing complete football, and having Darious out there making key plays was huge. He just has a knack for finding the ball. Really, the entire back end deserves recognition. Kamren Kinchens was outstanding. Kam Curl had a strong game. Josh Wallace came in and did excellent work. Quentin Lake is a glue guy who does so much for our team. Everyone stepped up.”
