Cowherd Makes Bold Claim About Seahawks’ Playoff Potential After Loss to Rams
Colin Cowherd isn’t backing off his belief in the Seattle Seahawks — even after their Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Seattle entered Monday coming off its first defeat since early October, a frustrating 21–19 loss that cost them a chance at first place in the NFC West. The defense performed well, and Jason Myers nailed his first four field-goal attempts. But Sam Darnold’s four interceptions — the third four-pick game of his career — proved costly despite some successful deep throws and favorable matchups against L.A.’s secondary.
Even with the turnovers, Seattle still had an opportunity to steal the game late. But questionable clock management and a long field-goal attempt led to the narrow loss.
National analysts spent Monday poking fun at Darnold, dredging up his Jets history and the infamous “seeing ghosts” moment. Colin Cowherd, however, took a different approach on The Herd. Rather than piling on, he focused on how competitive Seattle remained despite its mistakes.
Cowherd argued that the Seahawks’ youth and athleticism make them dangerous:
“Seattle is a young team, and young teams can struggle with identity; the Seahawks don’t. Darnold fits them strangely well. Even with four picks, he feels like the right match for this young, mistake-prone team. In all three of their losses, they’ve had multiple turnovers — and they were all one-possession games.”
Cowherd added that although the Rams got the win Sunday, he doesn’t believe they’d be the favorites if the teams met in the postseason. In fact, he said the Seahawks would be the last playoff opponent he’d want to face:
“If Stafford threw four interceptions, the Rams would get blown out. Seattle throws four on the road, gets pinned at the one-inch line, and still almost wins. They’re explosive, physical, and relentless. Honestly, the last team I want to face in the playoffs is Seattle — you’d better be ready for a fight.”
With several games still ahead, Seattle has time to regroup, including a Week 16 rematch with the Rams. Next up is a road trip to face the 1–9 Tennessee Titans, offering a chance to reset and get back on track.
