Boise State held off a late rally from Wichita State to claim a 62–59 victory Tuesday night at ExtraMile Arena.
The Broncos (4–1) led 60–50 with three minutes remaining but needed one final stop, as Michael Gray Jr.’s last-second three-point attempt missed, securing their fourth straight win. The Shockers (3–1), who entered the game averaging 91.7 points per outing, were held to a season-low 59.
“I’m extremely proud of our guys and how we’re progressing,” head coach Leon Rice said. “They really committed to the game plan, and our staff did a terrific job preparing them. Holding a team like that to 59 points is impressive. That’s two consecutive games we’ve kept good offensive teams in the 50s — that’s a great sign for us.”
Despite the win, the Broncos’ offense continued to struggle, shooting 37% from the field (20-of-54) and 65% from the line (15-of-23).
Drew Fielder led the way with 17 points and six rebounds, while Andrew Meadow contributed 15 points, five boards, and two assists.
Boise State now has the rest of the week off before heading to the Maui Invitational, where they’ll face USC (3–0) at 3 p.m. MT on Monday.
