Top 2026 Wisconsin Badgers Commit Announces Decommitment
The Wisconsin Badgers’ 2026 recruiting class currently includes 13 high school pledges, but the setbacks continue for Luke Fickell and his staff—even on a day when it seemed like momentum was finally turning in their favor.
Despite picking up two ranked victories over the past three weeks and landing a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Brady Bekkenhuis earlier on Wednesday, the Badgers were hit with a major loss later in the day. Jayden Petit, a wide receiver from St. John Neumann in Naples (FL) and one of Wisconsin’s top commits, announced via social media that he is withdrawing his commitment.
“This was not an easy choice,” Petit wrote. “I want to personally thank Coach Fickell, Coach Reid, Coach Grimes, Zach Zilm, Ethan Russo, and Pat Lambert for believing in me, investing in me, and taking the time to build a genuine relationship throughout this process. Every conversation, every visit, and every moment learning about Wisconsin meant a lot to me and my family.”
Petit becomes the fifth high school player to decommit from Wisconsin’s 2026 class since the start of the fall, with four of those departures happening this month.
A four-star recruit ranked No. 167 nationally by the 247Sports Composite, Petit originally committed to Wisconsin in June. He chose the Badgers over more than 30 offers, including Auburn, Indiana, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
Before committing, Petit took an official visit to Oklahoma, and the Sooners have reportedly continued their pursuit. He even made an unofficial trip to Norman in late October.
The 6-foot-4 pass catcher posted impressive production in high school: 66 receptions for 1,141 yards (17.2 yards per catch) and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore, followed by 50 catches for 777 yards (15.5 yards per catch) and 12 touchdowns as a junior.
With Petit’s departure, Wisconsin’s 2026 class remains at 13 commits, including just one wide receiver—three-star Zion Legree of Fort Walton Beach (FL). The class is currently ranked 71st nationally in the 247Sports Composite.
