Cincinnati Bearcats Football Loses 2027 Three-Star Commitment
The University of Cincinnati now has just one verbal commitment in its 2027 recruiting class after losing a pledge late last week.
On Friday, three-star athlete Hezikiah Kelley from Northwest announced he is reopening his recruitment after committing to the Bearcats in June. Kelley was the higher-ranked of Cincinnati’s two 2027 commits, checking in at No. 48 nationally among athletes and No. 18 in Ohio, per 247Sports, ahead of fellow commit Javarris Warner.
Standing 6-foot-2, Kelley plays both wide receiver and defensive back. He entered the season unranked but has since seen his stock rise, earning additional offers from Kent State, Miami (OH), Toledo, and Eastern Michigan.
As for the Bearcats, their focus has shifted to bowl season. Cincinnati will face Navy in the Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2, with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. ET. After opening as 1.5-point favorites, the Bearcats have moved to 4.5-point underdogs.
Head coach Scott Satterfield emphasized the need for defensive adjustments when preparing for Navy’s offense during last week’s bowl media call.
“You’re not going to approach this the same way you did during the season,” Satterfield said. “You have to adjust your habits and prepare differently. That evaluation process will carry into January and February as we move toward spring practice. Defensively, we’re focused on improving and creating more disruption.”
