Georgia Tech Names Allen Mogridge as Offensive Line Coach
Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key has promoted Allen Mogridge to serve as the program’s new offensive line coach.
Mogridge most recently spent the season at Appalachian State and previously worked at Georgia Tech as a special advisor to Key and the Yellow Jackets. The move reunites two coaches with an extensive shared history.
Key and Mogridge coached together at UCF during the 2012 season and again from 2014–15, where Mogridge handled tight ends and H-back duties while also working with the offensive line. During that time, Key served as the offensive coordinator.
A seasoned coach with 23 years of experience, Mogridge brings a deep résumé to the position. Prior to his stop at App State, he served as offensive line coach at East Carolina. His career also includes stints at USF (2020–22), FIU (2017–19), Georgia Southern (2016), and three separate seasons at UCF.
When Key originally brought Mogridge onto the Georgia Tech staff in 2023 alongside special teams coach Tim Salem, he emphasized the value of their experience and leadership.
“We’re very fortunate to add Allen and Tim to our staff,” Key said at the time. “The experience and knowledge they bring will have a major impact across our program—from teaching and game planning to recruiting. I’m excited for our players and coaches to benefit from having them here.”
Throughout his career, Mogridge has been part of 13 bowl appearances as both a player and coach, including three consecutive postseason trips at North Carolina. His additional experience includes a season at Temple in 2013, three years at his alma mater North Carolina as special teams and tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator (2009–11), and five seasons at Buffalo (2004–08) as running backs and offensive line coach as well as recruiting coordinator. He also spent 2003 at Buffalo coaching defensive ends and began his coaching career there as a defensive graduate assistant from 2001–02.
Why Mogridge Is a Strong Fit
With multiple offensive staff changes this offseason, Key has faced a challenging stretch that included assistant departures and outside interest in quarterback Aaron Philo. Despite the turnover, Mogridge’s hiring stands out as a stabilizing and strategic move.
His extensive experience, proven success developing offensive lines, and familiarity with Key’s system make him a natural fit. Having worked together previously, the two share a strong professional rapport that should translate into cohesive player development and effective recruiting, particularly in the transfer portal. With Mogridge’s background and expertise, Georgia Tech’s offensive line is well-positioned to take a step forward.
