Oklahoma State QB Zane Flores Set to Enter Transfer Portal
Oklahoma State quarterback Zane Flores intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Flores has completed his third season in Stillwater and saw game action during the 2025 campaign, but with a new coaching staff taking over, he is now seeking a fresh opportunity elsewhere.
Flores starred at Gretna High School in Nebraska, where he was rated a three-star recruit. In the 2023 class, he ranked No. 467 nationally in the Rivals Industry Ranking, which combines evaluations from the major recruiting services.
During the 2025 season, Flores appeared in nine games and finished as Oklahoma State’s leading passer. He threw for 1,490 yards with three touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 59.8% of his attempts. The quarterback position was inconsistent for the Cowboys throughout the year, and Flores ultimately emerged as the most productive option.
Flores will carry significant eligibility with him into the portal. He received a medical hardship waiver for the 2024 season after not appearing in any games, and he previously redshirted, meaning he has just completed his redshirt freshman season. As a result, he is expected to have three years of eligibility remaining.
Teammates have praised Flores for his leadership and composure. Wide receiver Terrill Davis highlighted his calm demeanor and ability to lead both in practice and in games ahead of Oklahoma State’s matchup with Oregon.
Originally, Flores chose Oklahoma State over several other Power Conference programs, including Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri. He was recruited and developed under longtime head coach Mike Gundy, who was dismissed in late September. The program is now led by Eric Morris, who was hired after serving as head coach at North Texas.
