North Carolina is quickly moving to bring this highly regarded big man to campus!
As reported by Inside Carolina, Henri Veesaar has arranged an official visit to North Carolina. The 7-footer is anticipated to arrive in Chapel Hill on Wednesday, right before the start of the dead period.
It’s worth mentioning that communication can still take place during the dead period. According to the rules, no campus visits are allowed from April 3 to April 11, yet discussions and financial negotiations can continue. However, it’s important to note that this communication must be initiated by players or their representatives; coaches and schools cannot start those conversations.
Henri Veesaar officially entered the transfer portal on March 31, and North Carolina quickly emerged as a team to watch in his recruitment. There appears to be a strong mutual interest, as the Tar Heels prioritized getting him on campus before the dead period begins.
Veesaar, a 7-footer from Tallinn, Estonia, played his first two college seasons at Arizona. Although he started only five games last season, his performance significantly improved during his sophomore year, averaging 9.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He also displayed his versatility by contributing 1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.
Don’t be misled by his size—Veesaar is a capable shooter. He can stretch the floor, having made 16 of 49 three-point attempts last season, and has shown effectiveness in pick-and-roll situations.
North Carolina is in need of size and athleticism, traits Veesaar can provide. While there are several big man options available in the transfer portal, Veesaar is currently at the top of the Tar Heels’ wishlist, as they aim to secure his commitment before he leaves Chapel Hill after his visit.
With many needs to address this offseason, recruiting a high-level big man is a top priority for the program. Adding Veesaar would be a significant boost, and early indications suggest that North Carolina is in a favorable position in this recruitment.
