Chrona Owns 11-11-5 Record in 29 Appearances With AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals This Season
Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has signed goaltender Magnus Chrona to a one-year, two-way contract valued at $ 775,000 at the NHL level for the 2025-26 season.
Chrona, 24 (born August 28, 2000), has a record of 11 wins, 11 losses, and 5 overtime losses with a .901 save percentage and a 2.87 goals-against average over 29 games this season with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals. His 11 victories surpass his previous career high of six, achieved in the 2023-24 season with San Jose. He has played a key role in helping the Admirals secure a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs, where they currently rank second in the Central Division. In 60 career AHL games, Chrona has a record of 17 wins, 28 losses, and 11 overtime losses, along with a 3.19 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage.
Originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the fifth round (152nd overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Chrona is in his second full professional season. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound goaltender played across the NHL, AHL, and ECHL for the Sharks organization last season, appearing in a total of 42 games as a rookie. Most of his time was spent with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, where he recorded a 6-17-6 record, a 3.49 goals-against average, and a .894 save percentage in 31 games. He made his NHL debut with San Jose on November 4, 2023, against Pittsburgh, and went on to play in eight additional games for the Sharks, achieving his first career win on March 9, 2024, vs. Ottawa.
Before turning professional, Chrona had a successful four-year career at the University of Denver, where he earned multiple honors, including consecutive NCHC regular-season titles and the league’s Goaltender of the Year award in the 2022-23 season. The native of Skellefteå, Sweden, played junior hockey with the Nacka and AIK systems before coming to North America.
