The Iowa Hawkeyes are making a strong push to land this prolific scorer in the NCAA transfer portal.
The transfer portal has seen quite a lot of activity for the Iowa Hawkeyes, particularly after the departure of Fran McCaffery, which triggered a significant player exodus. However, since bringing on Ben McCollum, the team has secured several new recruits.
Now, Iowa appears to be targeting another potential addition from the portal, having held a Zoom meeting with Chattanooga Mocs guard Honor Huff over the weekend, as reported by Dushawn London of 247 Sports.
Huff is also scheduled to meet with other schools, including St. John’s, Penn State, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia, so the Hawkeyes will be in competition for the talented senior.
The Brooklyn native concluded the 2024-25 season with averages of 15.2 points and 2.3 assists over 36.5 minutes per game, shooting 42.4% from the field, 41.6% from three-point range, and 82.0% from the free-throw line.
He began his college career at the Virginia Military Institute in 2021-22, making an immediate impact with 10 points per game while shooting 44% overall and 37% from beyond the arc before transferring to Chattanooga.
During his first season with the Mocs, the 5-foot-10 guard excelled, averaging 17.4 points and 1.7 steals per game with shooting splits of 43.4% from the floor, 38.0% from three, and 82.8% from the foul line.
With a career three-point shooting percentage of 39.5%, Huff would provide a significant long-range threat for Iowa and enhance the team’s ability to penetrate defenses and score at the rim.
The Hawkeyes had a disappointing season, finishing 17-16 overall and only 7-13 in Big Ten conference play.
